The Dance - audio book

The Dance - audio book
"You have a true higher self and [The Dance] tells you how to come from there all the time and be authentic and make a lasting difference." --- Mark Victor Hansen, co-creator of the New York Times bestselling series Chicken Soup for the Soul

Welcome to The Dance. In this compelling audio, the acclaimed author of The Invitation challenges listeners to savor the everyday world of family friends, love, and work, with clear minds and open hearts. When we are physically and emotionally stressed and our spirits are depleted, we must realize that happiness has not vanished, but is buried under the clutter of our harried lives. With rare courage and honesty, Oriah Mountain Dreamer unveils the challenge of her inspiring poem through compelling stories from her own experience, offering us tools not to change but to become fully the person we already are.

To dance is to discover a gift that we can give ourselves again and again over a lifetime and to be who we truly are as we live our soul's desires. To do this, we must learn how to let go and slow down, returning to the sacred emptiness where we encounter our true self Practical, inspiring, and profoundly illuminating, The Dance is an invitation to discover a place of connection, serenity, and joy that is uniquely our own.

Oriah Mountain Dreamer is a visionary teacher and writer, and author of the bestselling The Invitation. She speaks and leads workshops, ceremonies and retreats throughout the United States and Canada.

Confessions of an English Opium-Eater - audio book

Confessions of an English Opium-Eater - audio book
Says critic Grevel Lindop, The drug that brings an assuaging balm to the wounded heart extracts a price, alienating the hero from humanity and offering only intangible, though exalted, compensations. In 1804 while a student at Oxford, Thomas De Quincey was looking for relief from excruciating pain when a college acquaintance recommended opium. Opium! De Quincey wrote. Dread agent of unimaginable pleasure and pain! I had heard of it as I had of manna or of Ambrosia, but no further: how unmeaning a sound it was at that time!

Confessions of an English Opium-Eater, De Quinceys best-known work, is an account of his early life and opium addiction, in prose that is by turns witty, conversational, and nightmarish. The Confessions involve the listener in De Quinceys childhood and schooling, describing in detail his flight at age sixteen from Manchester Grammar School, his wanderings in North Wales and London, and his experiences with opium, which developed into a lifelong dependency.

Captain David Grief - audio book

Captain David Grief - audio book
"Brian Emerson contributes a well-paced reading and an authentic range of voices. His David Grief is just right: self-assured and always in control."AudioFileCaptain David Grief, South Pacific tycoon, owns plantations and trading stations fromNew Guinea to Samoa, pearling fisheries in the Paumotus, and rubber acreages in the Louisiades. His own vessels recruit contract labor, and he operates three steamers on ocean runs. He came tothe South Seas at the age of twenty and, blessed with a blond skin impervious to tropical rays, became browner through two decades as a true "son of the sun." At forty years of age, he looks nomore than thirty. His manifold enterprises flourish. His is the golden touch. But he plays the SouthSea game not for the gold but for the game's sake and for the daring life of the island rover.

This book, originally published as A Son of the Sun, gives David Grief's adventures through eight
long tales of danger and daring told in Jack London's graphic and colorful style.

Born in San Francisco in 1876, Jack London never knew who his father was. His name came from his stepfather, John Griffith London. The family was poor, and London's early education has been described as "spotty," though he read voraciously. To help the family, he held many different jobs, from peddling papers to working in a cannery. At nineteen, he entered high school, followed by one semester of college. In 1897, London hunted for gold in the Klondike and returned with scurvy and story ideas. By 1899, his work was selling briskly. At one time he was acclaimed the highest paid writer in the world, but bad investments and an inability to manage his money kept London poor throughout his life. In 1916, at age forty, he died on his beloved ranch near Sonoma, California.

Managing Emotional Eating -audio book

Managing Emotional Eating -audio book
"In the practice of Interactive Self-Hypnosis or imaginology, you see with your mind's eye. This is very different than seeing with normal sight. Sometimes people report that they can't see images & become discouraged working hypnotically. This is simply a matter of mis-understanding how mind & body tools work & what to expect. Each & every person reading my words in this very moment is working with imaginology."........Elizabeth Bohorquez, RN, C.Ht.

Over-eating & disorderly eating can be emotional in nature. As the body looks for balance from uncomfortable mind states, the subconscious mind often suggests to eat. Those suggested foods are often not in keeping with health or well-being. While they may feel good in the moment, the person is usually aware on some level that they are harming themselves in some way. This often leads to additional problems. This audio includes deep relaxation, entry tools to the subconscious mind, imagery designed specifically for emotional & thought management, inner motivation & lifestyle change, as well as Interactive Self-hypnosis © practice. Note: All programs produced by International Medical & Health Writers, Ltd. are written & recorded by Elizabeth Bohorquez, RN, C.Ht. Each program has 2 or 3 separate original Interactive Self-Hypnosis Sessions, each with it's own induction. All programs include directions for listening & other important information.

This program allows the listener to become aware of particular emotions involved in emotional eating behaviors and provides tools & techniques for diminishing these emotional states, as well as enhancing "skillful" or power states to assist in goal achievement. This audio also provides assessment tools for evaluating the nutritional state of the listener. Often times, when this is out of balance, emotional eating can & will increase. The answer is nutritional balance & emotional management.
